Jerry Wayne Jones
1938-2009

Mr. Jerry Wayne Jones, 71, 1525 Hwy 81 North, Jonesborough, went home to meet his Lord on July 21, 2009, at his residence.

He was born June 26, 1938, in Washington County.

Mr. Jones served his country with the U.S. Army for 27 years and he was of the Church of God faith. He was a wonderful piano player. Anyone who ever heard him play the piano and give his testimony knows he will be missed by all. We know the sound in heaven will be more beautiful, and the choir will have another glorious voice.

Jerry was the son of the late Homer and Mary Linville Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Barnes, 1987; and James Barnes, 2004.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years Elaine F. Jones, of the home; four sons, Tim Barnes and wife, Karen, Greg Barnes and wife, Jeannie, all of Jonesborough, Randy and Michael Jones, Johnson City; three daughters, Kathy Pierce, Lisa Barnes and Pam Shepherd and husband, Roger, all of Jonesborough; three Grandsons, Trenton Barnes, Myrtle Beach S.C., Christopher Shepherd and Dennis Barnes, of Jonesborough; five Grand-daughters, Danielle Barnes, Amanda Worley, Chelsey Barnes, Kacei Pierce, Brandy Pilkington, all of Jonesborough; three special great grand-children, Callie and Jacob Worley, Jonesborough, and Jaden Collins, of Gray; and special friends of his church family.

Jerry was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grand-Father and Great Grand-Father.

Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be Friday, July 24, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Brother Earl Shelton officiating. A eulogy will be given by David Shelton. Music will be provided by David Shelton, Mary Reed and Julie Combs.

Interment will follow the service in Sulphur Springs Cemetery with the graveside prayer given by T.R. Gosnell.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Allen Melton, Hal Cutshall, Henry Walker, Jessie Barnes, Lee Melton, and Russell Bennett. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Paul Prichard, James Barnett and all Church Of God Brothers and Sisters.
